You Are What You Say (2015)
My mother used to say be careful with your words, because you are what you say. This artwork portrays that sentiment, as the typography figures are made up of letters. And just as the letters follow the figures around by strings in this piece, what comes out of our mouths cannot be put back in. They are part of us. The two figures, one colored bright and the other dark, represent the positive and negative words that we vocalize, which end up composing us. The letters are a collage, pieces cut out of magazines, symbolizing how the different sources from which we draw what we say combine to make-up our personalities.
